Chauvet Light Repair.

Had the task of repairing two Chauvet lamps and was told it was the power supply, for which Chauvet wanted £400 each.
Cracked one open, plugged it in, power supply fine.
After some poking with various technical sticks found a shorted diode on the control panel board. Replaced with new and fixed. Total parts per light, £0.60. Time to find the fault, about six hours including disassembly and repair. Saved the customer about $600.
As to why the diodes shorted on both lamps though, that’s still a mystery. I’ll await feedback from the customer for the longevity of the repair.
